Aruna Raje remembers late Smita Patil

Smita Patil was a paradox. Terrific and tragic. Though not an alumna of the FTII, she front-lined the parallel movement along with graduates from the high-brow institute. In a career spanning just a decade, she was the first living Asian actor to have a retrospective of her films beamed in Paris, hosted by Greek filmmaker Costa-Gavras.
